UK consumer spending boom benefits PCs, with Dell hitting the top spot, but no benefit for printers

Issue #0337/4 - Consumers are spending, and favouring Dell, but are buying PCs (especially mobiles) not printers.

IDC Europe is reporting that, in the UK, the boom in consumer spending is behind the overall year-on-year growth of 17.4% in shipments of PCs in the third quarter of this year. Supporting this growth (also evident in Germany) is an apparent preference for mobile computing power. Notebook shipments grew by almost 40% year-on-year while desktops could only manage 9% growth.
