Printer with altitude sickness

Issue #0621/3 - Unusual specification entry causes problems for businesses in major cities.

I recently saw a specification item on a colour printer that referred to ‘specified operating environment’ as 0 - 2,500metres (8,200 feet).

Being curious, I wondered how many businesses might be affected by this restriction. It turns out that this would include cities such as Quito, capital of Equador - i.e. significant populations.

To operate this particular printer above this altitude would cause overheating. So what options do businesses in Quito have?

Answer, avoid this printer and purchase one by a more diligent manufacturer.
