Hewlett-Packard consumables in South Africa fall back down
Further to the brief item one month ago in TCPglobal Issue #0601 - "South Africa suffers 6.8% local currency price rise on consumables from Hewlett-Packard", we can now report that Hewlett-Packard has indeed reduced local prices for consumables almost back to the levels of December 2005.
Having been increased by 6.8% in January, reductions are now typically 6%, meaning an overall increase of about one-third of one percent.
January’s increase was an overreaction to a bad couple of months for the Rand against the US Dollar between the beginning of September and mid-November. The Rand continued to recover as 2005 drew to a close and has remained strong since early January but is showing signs of stabilising at around that level.
