Issue #0440/3 - Great prices, dreadful web coordination.
We are becoming used to discrepancies over pricing on the Dell Europe web sites. Just last week we requested confirmation regarding two different pages that advertised the price of the 3100cn at £309 and £319 respectively – BOTH excluding VAT and delivery.
Today, we have discovered that the Customise & Buy page offers a discounted price on that machine of £269. Oh yes, the original price quoted on that page is not £309, or even £319 but £316 – that is three different prices! Essentially Dell is offering to pay the VAT for buyers – a 15% discount.
Similarly, a discount is offered on the 3000cn, now £226, but the web pages are just as confused.
Discounted prices are €422 and €359 respectively in France, again deeply embedded within the customisation page of the web site.
Oh well! At least Dell is offering discounts! But in the US, where we see greater consistency within the web site, at least the discount (3000cn = $359; 3100cn = $439) is shown on the colour printer home page instead of being hidden at the customisation level.
