Issue #0815/1 – With two new A3 colour MFPs (Hewlett-Packard CM6040F and Lexmark X945e) now available in the printer channel, there is more choice for organisations both in regard to which machine to adopt and also how to acquire the device. The most direct competitors from the copier channel are Canon’s iRC4580i, Konica Minolta’s bizhub C451, Kyocera’s KM-C4035E, Ricoh’s MPC4500, Sharp’s 4500N and Xerox’s WorkCentre 7655.

#0814/1 – Hewlett-Packard and Lexmark have both recently launched new high-speed colour MFPs, targeted at workgroups, that are available under the traditional printer hardware sale arrangement. The Hewlett-Packard Colour LaserJet CM6040 and the Lexmark X945e will both print at 40ppm in colour but have quite different paper handling characteristics and very different cost structures.

Issue #0811/1 - Colorlok technology is a paper formulation designed to provide bolder blacks, more vivid colours and faster drying time for inkjet printing than standard office papers, with high consistency and quality. So, we put it to the test and found that the differences are marginal and barely worth swapping for – unless you are not using a modern Hewlett-Packard printer or are able to source it at a lower price than your regular paper.

Issue #0810/1 - Colour laser technology is the Holy Grail of office printing and hardware purchase prices are now so competitive that it has come within reach of most businesses and many families. But, are we rejecting inkjet technology too quickly and for the wrong reasons? Inkjet can not only outperform laser but can be as much as 50% less expensive to own.

Issue #0809/1 - As part of its major product launch this spring, Hewlett-Packard has announced a raft of tools and resources, including the Marketing Impressions Portal, that are aimed at providing small business with in-house creative marketing tools to enable those businesses to gain more value out of their printers and increase the impact of their marketing materials. This is an integral part of Hewlett-Packard’s “What do you have to say” programme.
