Dell pushes Total Cost of Printing with inkjet AiOs through the roof!

Issue #0830/1 – In launching its new range of branded (but Lexmark-built) inkjet All-in-One printers, Dell has increased Total Cost of Printing to completely eliminate all the cost advantage it was so proud to claim when the company first introduced its own brand printer range. We check current costs of the new models against previous models and also against equivalent Lexmark devices.

Both Dell and Lexmark adjust pricing strategies in Europe – in opposite directions!

Issue 0830/2 – We’ve seen in the article "Dell pushes Total Cost of Printing with inkjet AiOs through the roof!" that Dell is no longer a low-cost inkjet printing option but how does this vary from country to country? We’ve checked Europe out for pricing variation on one of the latest Dell All-in-One inkjet printers and compared what we’ve found against the pricing of a Lexmark model.

Issue #0829/1 – While special offers can put mono laser MFP functionality in the hands of small business or home users for less than £50 including tax in the UK (see "Laser multifunction for less than £50 – including tax!"), the Total Cost of Printing using that machine in no way reflects the value of the low cost of accessibility to the technology. In this article we expand the product group to include the next strata of mono laser MFPs as we consider what implications there are in buying a cheap machine against buying the lowest Total Cost of Printing.

Issue #0828/3 – At the same time as launching its new fast A4 colour laser printer, Oki also launched a new advanced A3+ colour laser printer, the 36ppm C9850, which comes in hdn and hdtn versions. At this level, there is only one other competing printer, the Phaser 7760 from Xerox.

Issue #0828/1 – The sudden violent swings in exchange rates seen over the past eight weeks in particular is set to play havoc with prices of goods passing between countries. So far, we’ve only seen Lexmark react with price increases on its supplies products in the UK but there is every probability that Hewlett-Packard will follow suit in due course.
